There are many reasons why people choose counselling, often for a wide range of personal, mental health and relationship issues, these include the breakdown of a relationship, work and life stress, sexual problems, depression and anxiety. Please find below a list of some of the issues that I work with:
I offer both long and short-term therapy. This can be as little as six weeks and is often used for clients who have specific goals in mind. Longer term therapy is often useful to explore more deeply-rooted issues and can continue for as long as both parties are in agreement. You may stop counselling at any time by simply by letting me know.
What to expect at your first appointment
At your first appointment/assessment you will be invited to discuss what has brought you to counselling together with your hopes and aims for therapy, current situation and any symptoms you are currently experiencing, this usually lasts around 50 minutes. You will be given time and space to raise any concerns you may have about counselling and at the end you will be able to decide if you would like to continue with further sessions.
We will also establish boundaries for therapy including:
- Dates and times of counselling sessions
- Confidentiality agreement
- Clarification of the professional nature of the counsellor/client relationship
- Contact information outside of sessions
- How your personal data will be stored
